SETTING UP IN MORELOS
After receiving many messages about the inundation of volunteers throughout México City, which was astounding, we began to hear about smaller towns closer to the earthquake’s epicenter, which have not been receiving the kind of help that the city has.
So, last night we decided to load up four cars, a truck and even received the help of a police escort, and off we went to base ourselves in Morelos, from where we could continue collecting donated goods and distribute from our team member’s home there.
First thing in the morning, we set out into the villages to distribute tools, safety gear, water and medicines. However, within just 30 minutes, we had already given out a truckload of supplies! The town was in desperate need for more.
What we saw in the villages was heartbreaking. These people already didn’t own much, and now almost every physical possession they have has fallen to the ground. The entire towns were in rubble, forcing people to sleep out on the street amongst the spiders, snakes and scorpions. Anti-venom medication is desperately needed, as it’s not as accessible out here as it is in the big cities.
